HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
RESOLUTION 2003-02
A RESOLUTION OF THE SEWARD HISTORIC PRESERVATION
COMMISSION, RECOMMENDING CITY COUNCIL
AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A GRANT
AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE STATE OF ALASKA AND THE
CITY OF SEWARD FOR THE PURPOSE OF DEVELOPING A
SEWARD NATIONAL HISTORIC SITES TROLLEY TOUR
WHEREAS, the State of Alaska, Historic Preservation Office has provided the
City of Seward with Historic Preservation Fund grant funds totaling $16,500.00 for the
purpose of developing a Seward National Historic Sites Trolley Tour; and
WHEREAS, the total project cost is anticipated at $16,500.00 with a federal
share of $9,900.00 and a local match of $6,600.00 in-kind contributions and expenses;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Seward has nine (9) National Register Historic Sites and
nine (9) historic sites on the Seward Register of Historic Places; and
WHEREAS, a multi-media tour dedicated to the sites will create a greater
appreciation for the history of Seward; and
WHEREAS, the community will benefit from providing higher visibility for the
historic sites.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HISTORIC
PRESERVATION COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA that:
Section 1. The Historic Preservation Commission hereby recommends that the
City Council authorize the City Manager to execute the Historic Preservation Fund grant
from the State of Alaska, Department of Natural Resources in order to develop the
Seward National Historic Sites Trolley Tour.
Section 2. This resolution shall take affect immediately upon its adoption.
