CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION
RESOLUTION NO. 92-002
A RESOLUTION OF THE SEWARD PLANNING AND ZONING
COMMISSION, AUTHORIZING THE PLACEMENT OF A TEMPORARY
INFLATABLE AMUSEMENT RIDE IN THE HARBOR COMMERCIAL DISTRICT
WHEREAS, Popcorn Gannaway has requested permission to place an inflatable
amusement ride on property located in the Small Boat Harbor for the 1992 summer
tourist season; and
WHEREAS, amusement rides are not addressed in the Seward Urban Zoning
Code and, therefore, are not specifically permitted in any other district; and
WHEREAS, there is no other district within the city which is more appropriate for
this use; and
WHEREAS, amusement rides are consistent with the temporary carnival-like
atmosphere of the boat harbor during the summer season; and
WHEREAS, this use is consistent with other tourist-related uses in the Harbor
Commercial District; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Seward Planning and Zoning
Commission that:
Section 1. It is in the public interest to allow Popcorn Gannaway to place an
inflatable amusement ride on property located within the Harbor Commercial District and
owned by Tanya Sandefur provided that this use shall be allowed for the Summer 1992
tourist season only, and further provided that the amusement ride shall be removed from
the Harbor Commercial District no later than September 30,1992.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the Seward Planning and Zoning Commission this
8th day of January, 1992.
