HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes1994-016 Sponsored by Jones CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO. 94-16 Substitute A RESOLUTION OF THE SEWARD PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION, RECOMMENDING THAT THE CITY COUNCIL REZONE SEWARD WATERFRONT TRACT 2 FROM CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT, TRACTS 3 AND 4, MUNICIPAL DOCK AND ACCESS ROAD FROM INDUSTRIAL AND TRACTS 5 AND 6 FROM PARK TO INSTITUTIONAL WHEREAS, Seward Waterfront Tracts 2-6 have been identified by the Seward City Council as a site for the development of a sea life center, now known as a marine research and public education facility; and WHEREAS, Tract 2 is zoned Central Business District (CBD); Tracts 3 and 4, municipal dock and access road are zoned Industrial (I); and Tracts 5 and 6 are zoned Park (P); and WHEREAS, it would be proper for the entire parcel identified for the proposed sea life center to be in the same zoning district; and WHEREAS, the Institutional zone most closely fits the proposed use and is consistent with the zoning of the adjacent and closely associated University of Alaska IMS campus; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Seward Planning and Zoning Commission that: Section 1. An ordinance, attached and incorporated herein by reference, amending the Seward Zoning Map by rezoning Seward Waterfront Tract 2 from Central Business District, Tracts 3 and 4, municipal dock and access road from Industrial, and Tracts 5 and 6 from Park to Institutional, is recommended to the City Council for adoption. Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. PASSED AND APPROVED by the Seward Planning and Zoning Commission this 3rd day of August, 1994.
