PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION
RESOLUTION NO. 2002-19
A RESOLUTION OF THE SEWARD PLANNING AND ZONING COMMIS-
SION, RECOMMENDING CITY COUNCIL APPROVE AN AMENDMENT,
TO THE EXISTING CONTRACT WITH URS, FOR PROFESSIONAL
PLANNING SERVICES TO UPDATE THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN, AT A
COST NOT TO EXCEED $7,929.00, TO PREPARE A SERIES OF GIS MAPS
WHEREAS, the Seward Comprehensive Plan was last updated in 1990, and provides a guide
for community development pertaining to land use, transportation facilities, economic development,
public facilities and services; and
WHEREAS, there is a need to update the Comprehensive Plan since many of the strategies
articulated in the 1990 document have been completed, and others are no longer applicable due to
changed circumstances; and
WHEREAS, by Resolution 2000-054 the City of Seward entered into a contract with URS to
provide professional planning services to update the Comprehensive Plan; and
WHEREAS, originally the GIS maps were to be provided to the City from the Kenai
Peninsula Borough; and
WHEREAS, the Kenai Peninsula Borough has been unable to supply these maps; and
WHEREAS, to avoid any further delays in completing the draft Comprehensive Plan the City
had requested URS to submit an amendment proposal for preparing five GIS maps.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SEWARD PLANNING AND
ZONING COMMISSION, that:
Section 1. The Commission recommends the City Council approve the amendment to the
URS contract, to prepare five GIS maps, at a cost not to exceed $7,929.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
