HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes2003-018 Sponsored by: Applicants CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION RESOLUTION 2003-18 A RESOLUTION OF THE SEWARD PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, RECOMMENDING CITY COUNCIL AND KENAI PENINSULA BOROUGH APPROVAL OF A VACATION OF RIGHT-OF-WAY OF THE UNDEVELOPED ALLEY ALONG THE EAST BOUNDARY OF TWO LAKES PARK ABUTTING THE APPLICANT'S PROPERTY (CARLSON/BENCARDINO) AND A PORTION OF THE UNDEVELOPED PORTION OF V AN BUREN STREET ON THE EAST BOUNDARY OF TWO LAKES PARK HAVING A WESTERNMOST BOUNDARY OF THE TOP OF THE RIDGE CREST, IN RETURN FOR WHICH THE CITY WILL RECEIVE PORTIONS OF LOTS 21 AND 22, BLOCK 11 LAUBNER ADDITION TO SEWARD, HAVING AN EASTERNMOST BOUNDARY AT THE TOP OF THE RIDGE CREST, AS SHOWN ON THE PRELIMINARY PLAT AS TRACT A WHEREAS, the applicants, Louis Bencardino and Dianne Carlson, have requested that the City Council approve a vacation of right of way of the undeveloped alley and Van Buren Street abutting the applicant's property, in return for which the City will receive the West portions of Lots 21 and 22, Block 11, Laubner Addition to Seward as shown on the preliminary plat; and WHEREAS, this will allow the applicants to build closer to the hillside behind their property and will increase their landholdings, property value and the enjoyment of their property; and WHEREAS, these portions of the alley adjacent to their property are undeveloped because of steep topography; and WHEREAS, this will provide more land for Two Lakes Park and allow the City to move closer to replatting all of Two Lakes Park into one parcel as requested by the Commission at the joint work session with Council, May 2002; and WHEREAS, the applicant shall pay for the surveying, title work and other closing costs as necessary; and WHEREAS, this action is consistent with the Comprehensive Plan, the Strategic 'uondopU Sl! uodn APlU!paUlUI! palP a)[lll nUlls uO!lnIosal S!ql "..
