RESOLUTION 2005-15
A RESOLUTION OF THE SEWARD PLANNING AND ZONING
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA,
RECOMMENDING APPROVAL OF THE KENAI PENINSULA
BOROUGH COMPREHENSIVE PLAN WITH REQUEST FOR
CONSIDERATION OF COMMENTS
WHEREAS, the Seward Planning and Zoning Connnission is required by the Seward City Code
to review and provide connnents on the Kenai Peninsula Borough Comprehensive Plan; and
WHEREAS, the Connnission is thankful to have the opportunity to provide comments to the
Kenai Peninsula Borough.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Seward Planning and Zoning Connnission
that:
Section 1. The Seward Planning and Zoning Connnission does not reconnnend approval of
the Kenai Peninsula Borough Comprehensive Plan until the plan reflects the Seward connnunity
desire to maintain the historic and current ferry service to Seward by the Alaska Marine
Highway System.
Section 2.
The following additions are reconnnended:
1. Goal 4.2, Objective I, Implementation Action, add new item D. "Support
University of Alaska, Fairbanks efforts to modernize the Seward Marine Center campus and to
replace the aging research vessel, Alpha Helix with the larger, federally funded Arctic Region
Research V esse!."
2. Goal 4.5, Objective 1, Implementation Action, add new item C. "Support
comprehensive health care services in the Eastern Kenai Peninsula."
