<br />:.rinutes of the <br />Adjourned meeting of the Seward <br />City Council held January 10th 1921. <br /> <br />~al"; <br />GJ>C <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 8 p, m, by Mayor <br />Chamberlin and all members were present except Councilman J L <br />Graef. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The minutes of the regular meeting of January 3rd were <br />read and approved. <br /> <br />A Fiancial re~ort from the Treasurer was read, the same <br />showing a balanoe of ($10.823.25) for the month ending December <br />31st 1920. Councilman Orlander seoonded by Councilman Ellsworth <br />moved that the report be aocepted and plaoed on file, and it was <br />so ordered. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Counoilman McNeer seoonded by Counoilman Orlander moved <br />that the Street Committee be empowered to construot the neocess- <br />ary trails whereever the snow was to deep for sohool ohildren to <br />travel, during the prevailing bliZzard weather, and to use their <br />best judgement at anytime du~ing a like ooourenoe. Motion Carried. <br /> <br />The following Resolution was presented by Counoilman <br />Horner, and read for its first reading: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, The Women's Club of Seward, Alaska, has <br />Established and is maintai>>inga Public Library for the Benefit <br />and use of the oitizens of Seward, <br /> <br />and, WHEREAS, until suoh time as the Town of Seward, as <br />such, oan afford to equip and maintain a Publio Library, the <br />above-named Club is entitled to reoognition and assistanoe in its <br />oommendable efforts in suoh regard made. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN OF SEWARD, ALASKA, <br />That for the purpose of promoting the well-being and <br />Publio welfare of the citizens of the Town of Seward, the Sum of <br />Five Hundred Dollars is hereby appropriated out of the General <br />Fund of said Town of Seward, to be paid over to the proper Off- <br />icers of the Women's Club of Seward, and to be expended under the <br />supervision of said Club in the purohase of books in addition to <br />the Library now conduoted by said Club. <br /> <br />Passed under suspension of the rules this <br />January, A D 1921 <br /> <br />day of <br /> <br />Clerk of the Town of Seward, <br />Alaska. <br /> <br />Approved this day of January 1921 <br />~~--../.. ~~. Mayor. <br /> <br />ATTEST; <br /> <br />Clerk. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mayor C~amberlin then announced that the Resolution wou~d <br />be taken up again at the next regular meeting. <br /> <br />The MuniCipal Clerk reported the return of the ($800.00) <br />Loan from the Seward Sohool Board, and the Council requested that <br />due note of same be spread upon the minutes of the meeting. <br /> <br /> <br />I <br />Counoilman Horner seconded by Councilman MoNeer moved thatl <br />the Printing Committee look over the old Registration Books and J <br />see if new ones were needed, and report baok at the next regular <br />meeting.
