CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 89-002
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, FINDING IT IN THE PUBLIC INTEREST TO
REJECT THE SOLE BID SUBMITTED FOR THE PURCHASE OF A
GRINDER TROUGH FOR THE SMIC LIFT STATION AND AUTHORIZING
THE FABRICATION OF THE GRINDER TROUGH BY THE CITY SHOP
WHEREAS, the city publicly advertised for bids to
fabricate and install a grinder trough, and after extending
the bid date, one bid was received from Jaffa Construction
in the amount of $9,142.00; and
WHEREAS, the city has determined that it has personnel
on staff fully qualified to fabricate the grinder trough
according to design and specifications, and the city's
projected cost will not exceed $7,251.24; and
\-JHEREAS, $1,890.76 can be saved by fabricating the
trough in house on a City Shop work order chargeable to the
prison funds; and
WHEREAS, the Seward City Code and the bid documents
state that the City Council may reject any or all bids
and/or not award a contract if it is found to be in the best
interest of the city;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. It is in the public interest to reject the
bid submitted by Jaffa Construction for the fabrication and
installation of.a grinder trough for the SMIC lift station.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to
issue a work order, chargeable to the prison budget, to the
City Shop for the fabrication and installation of the
grinder trough for the SMIC lift station.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immedi-
ately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
