CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 89-031
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING AN EARLY OPENING
OF PUBLIC CAMPGROUNDS IN THE WATERFRONT PARK
WHEREAS, the city has experienced an early break-up, accom-
panied by reasonably warm temperatures and considerable melt of
snow; and
WHEREAS, the city has noted an influx of visitors and seasonal
workers in the community as a result of the above cited conditions,
as well as the oil spill crisis and fisheries hirings; and
WHEREAS, the number of visiting vehicles is estimated to be
too large to be accommodated in the designated winter camping area;
and
WHEREAS, because of the mild weather conditions, the opening
of campgrounds in Waterfront Park would not appear to present
health or safety problems for the city; and
WHEREAS, the city is prepared to open and
campgrounds, collect fees and welcome our visitors

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The Parks and Recreation Department is authorized
to open the Waterfront Park camping areas to visitors on April 29,
1989.
Section 2. The Parks and Recreation Department Campground
Management Staff is authorized to collect established fees and
perform required services beginning April 29, 1989.
Section 3. Public camping areas in Forest Acres Park and at
Spring Creek shall remain closed to camping until the official May
15 opening date.
Section 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its adoption.

ALASKA, this 24th day of April, 1989.
