RESOLlJrION NO. 85-106
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, DESIGNATING THE SEWARD ADVISORY PLANNING
AND ZONING COr,1MISSION AS THE LC:X:AL HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION
WHEREAS, there are certain loan programs available at the
state and federal governrrent levels that provide funds for historic
preservation wi thin such historic districts and subj ect to review by a
local Historic District Conmission; and
WHEREAS, Section 6-10 of the Seward City Code allows for the
establishrrent and managerrent of historic districts wi thin the City of
Seward; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 84-84 has set criteria and procedures
for establishing a historic district, and Resolutions No. 84-85 and No.
84-86 have designated the D.Jwntown area and the Jesse Lee Horre-as
Historic Districts; and
WHEREAS, the Seward Corrprehensive Plan Objective No. 26
en=urages the preservation of individual historic houses and cornrrercial
buildings and groups of historic structures; and
WHEREAS, the Seward Advisory Planning and Zoning Commission is
an established body that is involved in the zoning, planning and devel-
opment of the ccmnunity;
N<:m', THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section I.
is hereby designated
the purpose of:
The Seward Advisory Planning and zoning Canmission
as the Seward Historical District Commission for
a. Identifying and reconrrending historic district sites and
structures for nomination to the National Register of Historic Places;
b. Reviewing and approving projects for participation in the
Alaska Historical District Revolving Loan Program; and
c. Performing other actions which are necessary and proper
to carry out the above duties and any other actions determined by the
City Council to be beneficial to carrying out the historic preservation
goals of the City of Seward.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect irnrrediately upon
its adoption.
