RESOLUTION NO. 82-58
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, DEDICATING THE SCENIC VIEWPOINT LOCATED AT MILE 4.0,
NASH ROAD, TO CLARENCE E. JOHNSON
WHEREAS, since the earthquake of 1964 which damaged the City of
Seward's economic base, the City has been attempting to develop a diversified
economy based upon commercial fishing, tourism, and port and vessel repair
facilities; and
WHEREAS, since January 1977, Clarence E. Johnson has served as
City Manager and during that time provided the leadership necessary to con-
ceive, develop and build the finest deep water port in Alaska; and
WHEREAS, such efforts were beyond the scope of his duties as
city manager and reflected the highest tradition of public service; and
WHEREAS, without such leadership, residents and economy of Seward
would not be able to look forward with confidence in Seward's future;
NO!v, THEREFORE, IN CONSIDERATION OF THE ABOVE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, RESOLVES, that:
Section 1. The scenic viewpoint located at Mile 4.0, Nash Road, is
hereby reserved for future dedication to Clarence E. Johnson, City Manager of
the City of Seward, 1977-1982.
Section 2. The name of the scenic viewpoint will be chosen by
Council at a later date.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its
adoption.

ALASKA, this 9th day of August , 1982.
