CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 84-131
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING AGREEMENTS FOR SHIPPING
PREVIOUSLY PURCHASED GENERATORS WITHOUT FULL UTILIZATION
OF THE BID PROCEDURES SET FORTH IN THE CITY CODE
WHEREAS, the City Council has previously awarded a contract to
Morrison Knudsen for the purchase of two 2500 KW generators; and
WHEREAS, the Morrison Knudsen contract price for machines and
accessories is "F.O.B. Seattle"; and
WHEREAS, the City was unable to bid the shipping since actual
weights and sizes are not yet known; and
WHEREAS, the Administration has investigated the various
alternatives for transporting the generators from Seattle to Seward; and
WHEREAS, as a result of the City's initial research, the
Administration has recommended that Span Alaska Consolidators and
Construction and Rigging, Incorporated be awarded contracts for delivery
of the generators;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The public interest would best be served by not
utilizing the bid procedures set forth in Section 10-8 of the City Code
for transporting generators to Seward.
Section 2. The City Manager is authorized to award a contract
not-to-exceed $30,000 to Span Alaska Consolidators for transporting the
generators from Seattle to Seward.
Section 3. The City Manager is further authorized to award a
contract not-to-exceed $20,000 to Construction and Rigging to transport
two generators to the substation.
