CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 84-36
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF TOT LOT
EQUIPMENT WITHOUT UTILIZATION OF THE BID PROCEDURES
AS SET FORTH IN SECTION 10-8 OF THE SEWARD CITY CODE
WHEREAS, the Seward City Council appropriated $24,900 of
Federal Shared Revenue funds to the Tot-Lot Enhancement Program; and
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Department has budgeted
approximately $10,000 of these monies for equipment replacement and
shipping charges; and
WHEREAS, the it is the intention of the Parks and Recreation
Department to maintain a uniformity of design throughout the City's
parks and tot lots; and
WHEREAS, after researching numerous catalogs for the needed
equipment, Quality Industries was found to be consistently lower in
price than other manufacturers supplying similar equipment; and
WHEREAS, VANCO and Associates of Kent, Washington, is the
Quality Industries supplier for this area; and
WHEREAS, going to public bid for the purchase of the needed
tot lot equipment would be costly in both dollars and time;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. It is in the public interest to forego the public
bid process as set forth in Section 10.8 of the Seward City Code for the
purchase of tot lot equipment.
