CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 84-85
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, DEFINING AND DESIGNATING THE
DOWNTOWN HISTORIC DISTRICT
WHEREAS, the goals and benefits of historic preservation and
historic districts have been endorsed by the City Council in Ordinance
No. 519; and
WHEREAS, criteria for selection and designation of historic
districts have been established in City of Seward Resolution No. 84- 81/- ;
and
WHEREAS, the downtown area of the City of Seward has played a
key role in Seward's history since its founding in 1903; and
WHEREAS, said area meets the criteria set forth in Resolution
No. 84 -8IA
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The Downtown Historic District shall be defined as
that area in downtown Seward bordered on the South by Resurrection Bay,
on the North by Adams Street, on the East by Sixth Avenue, and on the
West by Third Avenue, and shall include the Ferry Terminal building.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its adoption.
