RESOLUTION NO. 2000-01
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, PORT AND
COMMERCE ADVISORY BOARD, RECOMMENDING ADOPTION OF
THE SEWARD PORT AND HARBOR TARIFF, YEAR 2000 UPDATE.
WHEREAS, the Seward Port and Harbor Tariff is the basis by which the Harbor Department
charges for services provided the maritime industry; and
WHEREAS, the department attempts to keep the document updated based upon the latest
information and studies available which reflect the market and trends in the industry: and
WHEREAS, the Seward Port and Harbor Tariffhas not been updated since July 1998 and
several inconsistencies and word changes were required in order to make the tariff match existing
practices as well as to clarifY certain areas; and
WHEREAS, the major changes involve adding a fee for major repairs and maintenance
activities in the upland boat storage area, eliminating the tiered daily rate schedule in favor of a
standard rate per lineal foot, adding an equipment fee schedule against which to bill out incidental
services and adding a used oil and substance fee schedule against which to bill large used oil recovery
services; and
WHEREAS, other minor changes include changing "City of Seward" to "Shiplift Operator"
where appropriate concerning the SyncroLift facility, changing the Travelift fee calculation to 1/4
hour increments from 1/2 hour increments after the first hour, and changing standard and overtime
rates for labor consistent with tariff studies conducted within the state.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL YED AND RECOMMENDED BY THE PORT
AND COMMERCE ADVISORY BOARD OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Seward, Alaska, approve and adopt by resolution
the Seward Port and Harbor Tariff, Year 2000 Update.
Section 2. The changes to the existing Tariff are recommended to take effect on July 1,
2000, in order to allow time to post the changes with the U. S. Maritime Administration.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City of Seward, Alaska, Port and Commerce Advisory
Board this 19th day of April, 2000.
