RESOLUTION 2004-01
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, PORT AND
COMMERCE ADVISORY BOARD, RECOMMENDING CHANGES TO THE
PORT AND HARBOR TARIFF REGULATIONS IN SUPPORT OF
COMMERCIAL FISHERIES TO ENCOURAGE ECONOMIC GROWTH
AND DEVELOPMENT WITHIN THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
WHEREAS, the City of Seward has sought to promote and increase the utilization of the
Port facilities in support of the commercial fishing industry; and
WHEREAS, the City of Seward receives significant benefits, direct and indirect, by way of
raw fish and sales taxes from commercial fishing vessels utilizing the port; and
WHEREAS, the commercial fishing industry provides year-round employment, directly
related to the industry and indirectly related to support services; and
WHEREAS, the quality of life for the citizens of Seward and surrounding areas is a direct
result of a stable year round economy.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND RECOMMENDED BY THE PORT
AND COMMERCE ADVISORY BOARD OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, THAT:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Seward resolves to amend the Port and Harbor
Tariffto equalize the moorage rates between the Seward Marine Industrial Center and the Small Boat
Harbor
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City of Seward, Alaska, Port and Commerce Advisory
Board this 7th day of January 2004.
