RESOLUTION 2004-06
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, PORT AND
COMMERCE ADVISORY BOARD, RECOMMENDING THE CITY OF
SEWARD CITY COUNCIL ENGAGE THE SEWARD CHAMBER OF
COMMERCE AS THE MARKETING ENTITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
WHEREAS, the Port and Commerce Advisory Board (P ACAB) and the City of Seward (the
City) has sought to promote and increase the visibility of Seward; and
WHEREAS, the City and P ACAB recognize the significant benefits, direct and indirect, of
marketing efforts; and
WHEREAS, a long term marketing plan combined with aggressive pursuit of marketing
goals will pay large dividends for the community; and
WHEREAS, the quality of life for the citizens of Seward and surrounding areas is a direct
result of a stable, vibrant, year round economy; and
WHEREAS, the Seward Chamber of Commerce (the Chamber) has the experience,
professional contacts and ability to provide marketing services for the community; and
WHEREAS, the Chamber has the ability to focus resources and target specific marketing
groups and to react to changing markets and demands more efficiently and expertly than the City;
and
WHEREAS, the community would benefit greatly by engaging and recognizing the Chamber
as the marketing entity of the community and the consolidation of the marketing effort.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND RECOMMENDED BY THE PORT
AND COMMERCE ADVISORY BOARD OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, THAT:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Seward resolves to recognize and engage the
Seward Chamber of Commerce as the marketing entity for the community of Seward
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City of Seward, Alaska, Port and Commerce Advisory
Board this 10th day of March 2004.
