Council Agenda Statement
Meeting Date: August 22, 2005
To: Clark Corbridge, City Manager
From: Tom Shepard, Project Manager
Agenda Item: Replace City Shed with new 30’ x 40’ Storage
Building for a price not-to-exceed Eighty-One Thousand and Four Hundred
Dollars ($81,400.00).
BACKGROUND & JUSTIFICATION:
The white City Utility Storage Building located North of City Hall is at the end of its life and is no
longer a safe structure Staff recommends replacing the City Storage Building with a 30’ x 40’
structure on the north side of City Hall, east of the satellite dishes. Both the new slab and new
building were competitively advertised and bid. Swenson Construction was the lowest responsive
bidder for both components of the project, including Twenty-Four Thousand Dollars ($24,000.00) for
the slab and Forty-Eight Thousand Dollars ($48,000.00) for the structure, for a total bid of Seventy-
Two Thousand Dollars ($72,000.00).
The storage building is used for winter salt storage, snow removal equipment such as the tractor and
jeep, storage for the rescue jeep and storage for miscellaneous City Hall equipment. The lack of
adequate storage space has been a recurring problem for the City, and this storage shed represents the
first step in addressing the storage space issue.
