Agenda Statement
Meeting Date: September 12, 2005
To: Seward City Council
From: Jean Lewis, City Clerk
Agenda Item: Amending City Council Rules of Procedures
BACKGROUND & JUSTIFICATION:
This city council changed the City Council Rules of Procedures on August 8, 2005, making the
appointment of council liaisons optional, instead of mandatory during their annual organizational
meeting.
Council also requested a member from each Board and Commission make periodic reports to the city
council.
These minor changes to the procedures will allow for Board and Commission to make these reports
to the city council in the event the city council does not appoint liaisons.
INTENT:
In the event council liaisons are not appointed by the Mayor during their organizational meeting in
October, that communication between the City Council and Boards and Commissions still flows back
and forth by having the Boards and Commissions report periodically to the City Council.
CONSISTENCY CHECKLIST: Where applicable, this agenda statement is consistent with the
Seward City Code, Charter, Comprehensive Plans, Land Use Plans, Strategic Plan and City Council
Rules of Procedures.
Other: _______________________________________________________________________
FISCAL NOTE: No fiscal impact with this change.
Approved by Finance Department: ________________________
RECOMMENDATION:
Seward City Council decide if these additions should be added to the City Council Rules of
Procedures.
