RESOLUTION 2003-67
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SEWARD SUPPOR NG THE
"GUARDIAN" FAST PATROL CRAFT FOR MARINE AFETY OFFICE
(MSO) VALDEZ
WHEREAS, Four Seasons Boat Services, based in eward, is partnered with
Guardian Marine International in the manufacture of the 8 -foot patrol craft, known as
the "Guardian"; and
WHEREAS, the Guardian craft is a prove vessel which is currently in the
inventory of the US Coast Guard and the US Nav ,and has a top speed of 40 knots,
impressive stability, a multi-mission platfo and cost-efficient operation and
maintenance; and
WHEREAS, our community ca benefit economically from additional
manufacturing jobs due to sales of the Gua ian craft; and
WHEREAS, the United State oast Guard Marine Safety Office (MSO) Valdez
has incurred additional homeland se 'ty responsibilities, with its primary mission being
,,,, the protection of the Valdez Marin erminal; and
WHEREAS, MSO Va ez believes the Guardian 85' fast patrol craft may be a
good fit for its needs and has xpressed desire to acquire the Guardian craft to execute its
primary homeland security fission, as well as other missions; and
WHEREAS, th Guardian vessel would be acost-efficient vessel for the Coast
Guard because of it low personnel requirements and low-cost maintenance due to
commercial-off-the- elf (COTS) equipment and sandwich-core fiberglass hull
construction; and
WHE AS, Mr. Dean Kasischke, President of Four Seasons Boat Services, has
requested assi tance from our Congressional delegation to procure two Guardian fast
patrol craft f MSO Valdez; and
AS, a copy of this resolution shall be delivered to the Governor, Senator
Lisa Murkowski, and Congressman Don Young.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, to hereby support pr curement of the Guardian
fast patrol craft by the US Coast Guard for MSO Valdez w 'ch would generate additional
work for Four Seasons Boat Services, and thus retain d grow the prestige, jobs and
associated economic benefits of a robust maritime in stry and the development of new
services provided there from.
