CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
ORDINANCE 2002-14
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SEWARD CITY CODE SECTION 8.30.025,
REVISING ANNUAL BUSINESS LICENSE FEES FOR CHARTER BOAT
OPERATORS TO SUPPORT THE ANNUAL PURCHASE OF SALMON
SMOL T FOR RELEASE IN RESURRECTION BAY
WHEREAS, the City of Seward has provided funds to support and enhance salmon fishing
in Resurrection Bay; and
WHEREAS, the business license fees (excluding late fees and the regular $30 annual license
fee) collected from individuals conducting charter fishing, will be used to purchase additional
salmon smolt in the subsequent year, subject to annual appropriation; and
WHEREAS, the City Council, pursuant to its Resolution No. 2002-032, appropriated
15,000 to purchase 100,000 salmon smolt in 2002; and
WHEREAS, the Seward Charter Association has made it known that charter fishing
businesses are willing to increase their annual business license fees (provided the total business
license fee does not exceed $150) to the City in recognition of the City's contribution to the charter
fishing industry.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, HEREBY ORDAINS that:
Section 1. Seward City Code Section 8.30.025(C)(I) is deleted in its entirety and hereby
amended as follows:

an annual, non refnndable fee of $30.00 per license, pf{l'vided that the fee per license for an
application submitted after the due date shall be $60.00.
