HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
RESOLUTION 2007-04
A RESOLUTION OF THE SEWARD HISTORIC PRESERVATION
COMMISSION, SELECTING "PROVIDING PUBLIC ACCESS TO THE
SEWARD HISTORICAL SITE INVENTORY" AS THE GRANT
PROJECT FOR THE FY-08 STATE OF ALASKA, DEPARTMENT OF
NATURAL RESOURCES, HISTORIC PRESERVATION FUND GRANT,
and RECOMMENDING CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZE THE CITY
MANAGER TO SUBMIT THE FY'08 GRANT APPLICATION TO THE
OFFICE OF HISTORY AND ARCHAEOLOGY, ALASKA DIVISION OF
PARKS AND OUTDOOR RECREATION
WHEREAS, each year the State of Alaska, Department of Natural Resources, Historic
Preservation Office offers a Historic Preservation Fund Grant to Certified Local Governments;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Sewazd, Historic Preservation Commission has applied for and
has been awarded several of the annual Historic Preservation Fund Grants in the past; and
r.... WHEREAS, Providing Public Access to the Seward Historical Site Inventory has been a
priority of the Commission; and
WHEREAS, the Commission supports the need for a database of the Seward Register of
Historic Places and the Seward Historical Site Inventory and the web pages to display this
information on; and
WHEREAS, a website/database designer shall be contracted to develop the database for
the Sewazd Register of Historic Places and the Seward Historical Site Inventory and develop the
web pages to display the database information; and
WHEREAS, the total project cost for providing public access to the Seward Historical
Site Inventory is estimated at $6,500.00, with a federal share of $4,173.00, and a local match of
$2,?82.00; and
WHEREAS, the City's match for this project shall be provided by in-kind services of the
Historic Preservation Commissioners.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Seward Historic Preservation
Commission that:
Section 1. The Historic Preservation Commission hereby supports "Provide Public

Access to the Seward Historical Site Inventory" as the project for the FY-08 Historic
Preservation Fund grant from the State of Alaska, Department of Natural Resources.
Section 2. The Historic Preservation Commission hereby recommended that the City
Council authorize the City Manager to submit the "Provide Public Access to .the .Seward
Historical` Site Inventory" grant application.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the Seward Historic Preservation Commission this 27tH
day of September 2007.
