Nominee's Address: 70-F> c STr "r,A Ah, 9gbh4 Phone: Ail - 55aS Submitted by: Sun Milo lck Conduct Phone: tD+bcgI I am herniating Lee Poleske for the Seward Historic Preservation Award for 2W8. Although I've known Lee since 1964 when he and I began Seward High School together, hm as a freshman and he as my teacher, I have been away for 38 years, and so do not have complete details of all that he has done for the preservation of Seward's history. However, I can speak to what I know for sure. Lee has worked tirelessly for the Seward Museum, keeping it open to the public with jute a few volurreers, or alone when there was no one else. He has docmnented Seward's history by preparing files of newspaper articles and documents. He has created files on individual Sewardites as well on major events in our history. He has ruefully checked the details on these files, using local residents' memories, phone books, and articles. Ile has checked and crosschecked the smaheet details with folks such as my parems (the r.eVasi Pat Williams, and others with historical memories. Lee has kept the Seward Museum's exhibits well displayed and interesting. He has creuted such historical events as Itw amual open house, the Christmas open honer, and the solstice cemetery tours. Lee publishes me historical society newsletter and keeps us all informed of such goings on as the featured Days and other significant anniversaries and wears. Lee is also a member of the Seward Community Library Museum Steenrhg Committee, and I have worked with him an this, as we are trying g to create a new museum fur Seward, which will allow for more displays and better rare ofour artifacts, as well as hour access f visitors. His knowledge ofom Ihistory and the needs fm a museum are essential w this project. In short, there is no other person in Seward more deserving ofthis award, as Leo has devoted his movement years an maintaining and promoting our Museum, and at documenting and recording our harer, AWARD NOMR'IATION FORM Nominaliens rain[ be received by the City of Sersord.
