RESOLUTION 2003-124
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AMENDING RULE 8 (c) OF THE CITY COUNCIL RULES OF
PROCEDURES ADDING REFERENCE TO THE SEWARD CHARTER AND
SEWARD CITY CODE REGARDING THE DEADLINE FOR DELIVERING
MAIL TO COUNCIL, CITY MANAGER, NEWSPAPER AND RADIO
STATIONS AND DELETING UNNECESSARY VERBIAGE
WHEREAS, this resolution updates Rule 8 (c) of the City Council Rules of Procedures
adding reference to the Seward Charter and Seward City Code regarding proper procedures for
delivering mail to council, city manager, the newspaper and radio stations and deleting unnecessary
verbiage; and
WHEREAS, the Clerk's office wishes to amend Rule 8 (c) of the City Council Rules of
Procedures to appear as follows (strike out = deletions, bold italics = additions):
RULE 8. (c) The notice will be delivered by mail or personally to the residence or principal
place of business of each council member, the City Manager, and the business office of each local
newspaper and radio and television station. which has OR file a written request f-or notice of special
meetings. The notice must be delivered at least 24 hours prior to the meeting;-(Charter 3.5 and SCC
~ 2.10.032);
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA that:
Section 1. The City Clerk's office amends Rule 8 (c) of the City Council Rules of
Procedures to read as follows:
RULE 8. (c) The notice will be delivered by mail or personally to the residence or principal
place of business of each council member, the City Manager, and the business office of each local
newspaper and radio and television station. The notice must be delivered at least 24 hours prior to
the meeting (Charter 3.5 and SCC 9 2.10.032);
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Seward, Alaska, this 24th day of
November 2003.

The City Clerks office has reviewed the City Council Rules of Procedures and found a

number of housecleaning changes that need to be made in order to update and keep

consistent language between the Council Rules of Procedures and the Seward City Code.
Resolutions 2003-116 through 2003-127 reflect these changes.
