INTENT:
Honor July 9`h as Alaska Flag day.

Where applicable, this proclamation is consistent with the Seward City Code, Charter
Comprehensive Plans, Land Use Plans, Strategic Plan and City Council Rules of Procedures.

the Big Dipper and the North Star; and
WHEREAS, the Alaska Legislature adopted Benson's design as the offcial flag
of~the Territory of Alaska on May 2, 1927; and
WHEREAS, AS 44.12.070. established July 9 of each year as Alaska Flag Day
to honor the creation of the design of the offcial flag of the state by Benny Benson and its
importance as a symbol of the state; and
NOW THEREFORE, I, Clark Corbridge, Mayor of the City of Seward, Alaska,
