63rd Silver Salmon Derby saw the most fish ever weighed in one day N 450 on Day 7, Friday.
About 5,600 Anglers turned in 2415 fish for a total of just over 21,455 lbs. So although ticket sales were
slightly down from 2017 — the fishing was better for this year's participants. Average Coho weighed almost
9 Ibs! We very much enjoyed having the Obihiro (and Seward!) dignitaries join us at the Awards Ceremony.
Stacey Walters of Seward caught the winning Coho weighing 16.73 Ibs good for a first -place trophy and
$10,000! The tagged fish are still out there — so if you catch one, bring in the tag, it's good for $100.
First Friday Art Walk, September 7th
Today was the first day of work for our new Blue Pipeline Incubator Manager/ Business Adviser. Justin
Sternberg of Nevada City, CA is in Anchorage this week with Joel. Jen Leahy will be joining them on Thursday
for a 2-day Alaska Start-up workshop. Thanks to locals Willow Hetrick and Ron Wille for applying — we are
sure there'll be many ways fortthem to be involved with this new endeavor.

Fjords Tours for hosting our dinner cruise to Fox Island last Friday. It was a beautiful evening in so many
ways!

We've returned to a 5-day work week at the chamber and visitor center. 9-5 Monday - Friday
