HomeMy WebLinkAbout04222019 City Council Laydown - LOA APEA 190422 LAYDOWN Res 2019-043 LETTER OF AGREEMENT By and Between THE CITY OF SEWARD And the ALASKA PUBLIC EMPLOYEE ASSOCIATION Representing the SEWARD PUBLIC EMPLOYEE ASSOCIATION(SPEA) LOA# 1 —CBA 2019 to 2021 Whereas,the City of Seward(Employer)and the Seward Public Employees Association(Union) are parties in a Collective Bargaining Agreement(CBA)effective January 1,2019;and Whereas,the City employee in the classification of Electric Executive Assistant signed an authorization card for representation in the IBEW;and Whereas,through negotiations,the City Administration and IBEW agreed that the position more appropriately belonged in the SPEA. Now,therefore,the parties agree to the following: 1. Effective April 24,2019,members in the Electric Administrative Assistant classification will be included in the CBA. 2. Upon fulfillment of the currently vacant position,the employee will be afforded the ten (10)day opt out option as specified in the CBA. 3. Should the Electric Administrative Assistant choose to be represented by the SPEA,the terms and conditions of their employment will be covered by the CBA. 4. Should the Electric Administrative Assistant to opt out of the CBA,the terms and conditions of their employment shall be covered by Title 3 of the Seward City Code.
