CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 80-29
A RESOLUTION CREATING A CITY RECORDS RETENTION SCHEDULE
WHEREAS, the Alaska Statutes at AS 40.21.080 require
cities such as Seward to preserve important public documents of
permanent value for study and research; and
WHEREAS, the Alaska Association of Municipal Clerks
has made a careful study of the management of municipal
records; and
WHEREAS, the City Council hereby finds that it is in
the public interest to establish an orderly system to retain
important public documents for later study:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SEWARD that
Section 1. The Records Retention Schedule for the
City of Seward, Alaska shall be the schedule outlined in
Exhibit A attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference.
Section 2. The City Clerk and City Manager shall
develop a plan whereby the records to be retained may be stored
and secured in Seward rather than transferred to the State of
Alaska.
