Dear Council Members:
I hope you are all having a wonderful, safe summer. I am sure enjoying the long, and
unusually warm days. Recently I spent the day in Seward and took advantage of the time
to get more familiarized more with some of your economic drivers. The railroad, harbor,
and your airport.
As I understand, today you are deliberating future options related to the Seward Airport.
It is exciting to hear about these considerations being made and I would encourage you
to conduct a thorough evaluation. I have reached out to a number of air carriers to see if
there is interest in passenger service. I'm awaiting their response.
It would only seem reasonable that with proper improvements, (developing an Instrument
approach controlled airport), including runway improvements, only paves the way for
many new future opportunities. The long verses short runway decisions need many
careful considerations. I support making improvements to the existing infrastructure and
avoiding the expensive start over approach. Perhaps you might consider any benefits of
the airport becoming a city- owned asset, as well. You have lots of exciting opportunities
in the City of Seward. What a beautiful view you have for sure.
The people of Seward are hardworking, determined individuals that accept challenges
without hesitation. I applaud you for that and look forward to seeing the outcomes of your
decisions. I am always here to assist in developing support from the government and
making sure your desires are achieved through reasonable processes. I have met with
our Governor recently and shared my perspective on opportunities in Seward. He was
encouraged and desires to see good projects happen.
As always, I'm available and willing to work for the people of Seward and look forward to
our next visit very soon.
Be Saf ,
C
