Vow Call to Order
The November 18 2009 Regular meeting of the Seward Historic Preservation Commission
was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chair Jolund Luther.
Opening Ceremony
Commissioner French led the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.
Roll Call
There were present: Chair Jolund Luther presiding, and
Monica Hinders John French
Linda Lasota Tom Swann
Absent was Dave Hamner
comprising a quorum of the Commission; and
Patty Linville, Library Director
Ryan Reynolds, Library Staff
Special Reports
City Administration Report- Linville
• Linville reported that the city was currently in the budget approval process. The community
meetings with Sen. Gary Stevens and Rep. Paul Seaton were successful. Receipts were
requested from Commissioners attending training. The 2010 CLG Grant was submitted on
10/13 and is awaiting approval. The city Library Museum project was top of the State
Legislature's city priority list and architects were currently working on design.
Other Reports, Announcements & Presentations -
Updates to the City Code — Terry —
• Christy Terry asked the Commissioners for feedback on updates to the City Code concerning
Historic Preservation. No changes were made at that time.
HP Workshop — Attendees —
• Attending Commissioners Luther, French and Hinders reported on the Historic Preservation
Workshop.
Friends of the Jesse Lee Home Update- Swann-

• Swann reported that the Friends were working on lobbying the Legislature for the full $3mil aid
originally agreed upon. Funds are continuing to be developed for stabilization efforts, and
funds have been used to protect the roof of the Home. Work towards establishing a nonprofit
LLC is nearly complete.
Website Updates Luther-
• None.
Photos for CLG Grant 2008 — Lasota
• Lasota thanked the Commissioners for their work to date and continued photo taking.
• Luther had talked to Clint Hutchison on changes to Photo Inventory website to make it easier
to access. Luther recommended changes to the spreadsheet to make each photo record
consistent.
Historic Site Inventory — All
• A work session was discussed to update the Inventory as it was compiled fifteen years ago.
CLG Grant #09511 Planter Grant — Hamner
• Linville reported that Hamner had not submitted any drawings to date but should have the
planter design for approval at the December meeting.

Commission Comments -
Hinders thanked Linville for helping the Commissioners attend the HP Workshop training.
Lasota asked those Commissioners that attended the training to share what they learned if they feel it
helpful.
French also expressed his appreciation for the availability of trainings.

Swann commented that he enjoyed seeing the professionalism of the Commissioners and
commended them.
Luther agreed with Swann and thanked the Commissioners for their work.

Christy Terry thanked the Commissioners for attending the meetings with Sen. Stevens and Rep.
Seaton, and for their help with city code changes
