CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
ORDINANCE NO. ~
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AMENDING SEWARD CITY CODE
TITLE 3, PERSONNEL, BY MODIFYING THE DEFINITION
OF PART-TIME AND FULL-TIME EMPLOYEES
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council that City Code provisions reflect actual
practice and the legislative intent behind the adoption of all Code provisions; and
WHEREAS, the definitions of full-time and part-time employees conflicts with such
legislative intent as well as the actual practice of the City;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
HEREBY ORDAINS that:
Section 1. The following definitions found in Seward City Code Section 3.01.035 are hereby
amended to read as follows:
3.01.035 Definitions.
F. "Full- Time Employee" means an employee who regularly works forty
hours per week
J "Part-Time Employee" means an employee who regular works less
than forty hours per week
Section 2. Seward City Code Section 3.15.095 is hereby amended to read as follows:
3.15.095 Insurance and medical benefits.
A. Regular city employees shall be entitled to participate in the group
life and health program administered by the city manager and approved by the city
council, provided they work an average of thirty hours per week The city shall
contribute to each employee's group health premium up to the maximum amount
determinedfrom time to time by the city manager and approved by the city council.
Absences due to paid leaves, some cases of leave without pay and those absences
covered by workers' compensation shall not interfere with those benefits.
B. The two appointive officers, city manager and city clerk, shall also
participate in group life and health programs. The personnel officer shall provide
all eligible employees with applications and iriformation concerning these programs;

the finance department shall provide for payroll deductions to cover the employees'
premiums.
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect ten (10) days following its enactment.
ENACTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, this
22nd day of January, 1996.
