Good day, Jessica Would you please report the following to the Commission, this is regarding the walking tour survey and my follow up since last week: Regarding the tour(survey) tomorrow, we are focusing on the following from the grant, plus the Govt. Cable House which I left out as there is a sign already: Cobble Art(formerly Brown and Hawkins),Jesse Lee Home,Standard Oil Building,Urbach's,Gebhart House,Passenger Depot,Bowling Alley,St.Peter's Episcopal Church,Solly's,Swetmann House,Van Gilder Hotel,Seaview,Benny Benson Park,Library/Museum(Featuring'64 quake movie/museum visit),Movie Theatre,Ballaine House,Resurrection Art Coffee House,Seward Yacht Club,Iditarod Mile 0,Millionaire's Row,Seward Railroad Depot,Dairy Hill,Port of Seward,Tribal Office. I. Commissioner Woelkers was sent this list and agreed to sort out the order for the visit. 2. I have asked Commissioner Benoit to assist in leading and/or capturing the discussion 3. The goal is to prioritize the design order and research as well as to discuss contacting the owners (not planned on this tour) 4. I am actually going to miss the tour as I am feeling under the weather(nothing serious) 5. Each commissioner has an example of the sign and what we are doing as this is included in the HP packets that are ready for pickup. Regarding the grant, we are making progress on items as discussed: Committees have been formed: Grants and In Kind Donations: Seese, Libbrecht Marketing and Communications: Benoit, Kurtz Volunteer Recruitment& Engagement: Benoit, Seese, Wolkers Historic Preservation Planning and Advocacy: Furlong, Benoit, Wolkers I have followed up with sign designer: Peter at Corvus Designs 1. Peter is working up a per sign and/or batch design quote for us: What will keep the cost down is for us to: • Take care of the working within the template guidelines that he is sending • Select pictures (2 to 3) and make sure we have the rights and the right resolution • Locate any other artwork we want to put on the sign 1. He will then design signage in a consistent manner, all ready for printing with the sign maker 2. The cost is expected to be $700-$1200 per sign (expected) for design to be production ready 3. He is getting a quote for actual signs production (he has a new company that is less expensive and quicker) 4. He is also getting a quote on aluminum sign posts and brackets that might be more cost effective than the Stainless Steel like Cable House 5. He suggested working in batches, say 5 signs at a time to reduce shipping costs I will be available by phone for any questions: That's all! This is just a quick reminder that you have a Historic Walking Tour starting at City Hall scheduled for 4 p.m. tomorrow, October 15, 2020. This tour is to check out the 25 historic properties identified in your CLG grant. I just checked the weather and there is only 5% chance of rain tomorrow and it's supposed to be sunny and 43 degrees. So, a great day for a walking tour©!
