• Sign Permits-Talked to Andy Bacon about sign placement. The signs need to be on the private
property, not the city property. There is a certain setback from the street that is not exact for
each property and it is the responsibility of the property owner to locate and know their
property lines for the sign placement. The best location is right on the line between the setback
and the private property so the person is standing on city property to read it but the sign is on
private property from an insurance standpoint.
• Photos-I have sent the first list of requests in for photos to Seward Community Library
Association.
• Sign Narratives-I have finished draft sign narratives and selected my photos for the Malloy
house,Tides Inn, Quonset Huts, Standard Oil Managers House and Keating House. Fred is
working on Keating house also and this is a backup if he does not find any more info than I did. I
have a phone appointment to talk to Doug Capra about them all to make sure there is nothing
historically important that might be missing later today. Doug is available to brainstorm with
people before they get started on signs. I will then check in with my property owners. Once I
have one that has been reviewed, I will share as an example.
• Credits- Be aware that credits for photos and sources and take up way more words on your sign
than you realize and since your words are limited, plan for that. Check your "word count". I am
developing a credit box that I hope we can use on all the signs to keep it simple that credit all
the individuals, organizations and references such as books, journals etc. in one place. Please
keep track and send me that list of names and if you use a book, a proper citation.
• Timeline-Tanguy has updated our timeline to include a 14 day review by SHPO. Your dates to
create signs etc. has not changed.
• Our Logo-We need a logo for the signs. I have developed one based on our Facebook page and
discussed with the sign designer to make sure it is suitable. We will need to vote on it at a
regular meeting. Are you OK with it?
• Progress Reports-Where is everyone else at. Progress and Problems?
