DRAFT Priorities and Goals for the Planning and Zoning Commission from April 2021
through April 2022:
SHORT AND MEDIUM TERM GOALS
• Review/ Update Title 15
• Current planning and zoning, including the subdivision of land, replats, conditional use permits
• Fort Raymond Property planning and platting
• Review and update the Municipal Lands Inventory and Management Plan
• Promote public interest and understanding of the comprehensive plan and review process
• Work with Historic Preservation to develop methods to preserve the historic downtown
CONTINUING CLERK'S NOTE: The Goals should be divided into two sections
• Review/ Update all of Title 15
• Look at current and future community needs to identify a wide range of strategies and
investments that support the neighborhood's growth and vitality
• Provide research, analysis, and insights in an accessible and straightforward way on current
topics — including demographics, housing, lodging, economic development, resiliency and
sustainability
• Promote public interest, understanding and ground truthing for the upcoming review process
of the comprehensive
• Continue to pursue compliance with the Seward City Zoning Code by prioritizing the
outstanding health and safety issues, such as snow removal, illegal camping, junk vehicles,
etc. --This is an ongoing review
• Identify and implement land use and zoning changes as well as other actions needed to support
the short-term recovery and long-term vitality of City
• Working with PACAB on the Seward Marine Industrial Center (SMIC) new zoning overlay
and development plan
• Working with Seward -Bear Creek Flood Board on beach revitalization and continuing joint
work sessions
• Did You Know Code Education for the community
• Planning & Zoning Commissioner training
