BUDGET: The current adjusted budget is a distribution of $24,000 from the state grant. We have
received or expect to receive $2700 from local donations pending any new ones. That leaves us
shoert about $2125.88 that we would still need to raise based on budgeted estimates below.
CONTRACTUAL: $ 19,670.88
Corvus Designs: Sign design $ 11,000.00
Sign Manufacture $ 7,170.88
Backhoe Rental $ 1,200.00
Concrete Mixer Rental $ 300.00
SUPPLIES AND MATERIALS $ 9,155.00
Printed Maps-5000 full color $ 895.00
Posts and mounts $ 6,500.00
Fast Setting Concrete 120 bags $ 960.00
Sauna Tubes x 20 $ 300.00
Picture Rights-Various $ 500.00
As Noted Previously and approved by the commission, the SHPO has increased their award to the
$24,000 above.
I still believe we are on track with some help. I contacted the State of Alaska SHPO to let them
know that posts, brackets, production are exceeding original estimates, in great part because of the
strong demand of our project. They are going to increase the reimbursement to $24,000 from
$17,825, There is not anticipated extra cost to the city as our volunteer hours and in kind will cover
our portion of the match. While this amount will cover the Cost of design of signs, production,
posts, brackets, delivery, it will not cover the cost of digging, concrete, install. This will need to come
from private entities. Note that I will ask for a motion from the commission for me to send the
request in to the SHPO to accept the additional funding. I have made Ms. Naneth Ambrosiani aware
in finance. I will also be sending her all invoices received to date, as well as any estimates.
Rotary Club of Seward made a donation of $1500. And may come through with another
$200 from district.
Bruce Jaffa may be willing to make a donation and other homeowners have shown some
interest
Hugh and Iris Darling have donated $1000
Fundraising committee will need to convene and dial this in. I could use help if anyone has contacts
to Resurrection bay Tool rental or can help us obtain equipment and supplies at a reduced cost.
The posts may also come in at a lower price than anticipated.
DONE: We also need to discuss how in kind and donor recognition will occur as a matter of
consistent policy. I have requested a special meeting following the 4.19 work session to discuss
and vote on how to consistently receive any funding and recognize time and monetary donations,
whether it be signs, on maps, or a combination or derivative of either or both.

SIGN INSTALL:
We will need the equivalent of about 6 bags of concrete to fill a hole 3 ft deep for a 4 inch
post that will extend about 3At about $8/bag x 6 bags x 20 signs (some are wall
attached)=$960.00
Should buy Sauna Tubes for concrete. These are about $13.00 each x 20=$460.00
Cement Mixer can be towed with truck: Can be rented at same location= $300.00
We need to rent the mini backhoe for $1200.00
This is all assuming we receive no in kind consideration from the Seward Tool rentals
Options: for install
City of Seward:
Neither public works or Parks and Rec can assist. Neither has the equipment, staff, or resources.
Both Doug in Public Works and Tyler in Parks and Rec have been contacted. Assistance from city
departments seems unlikely at this point.,
Bruce Jaffa with Jaffa construction has indicated willingness to help with install, short of digging the
holes. I am continuing to discuss with him if he would be willing to donate cement, backfill or
expertise. He had considered making the sign posts and bases at cost though he has determined
that we can get a lesser price with the existing vendor.
Commissioner Pemberton 907-224-2598. Has indicated he can operate equipment. Will need to
discuss in more detail.
WALKING TOUR MAP: To be set up as a TRI-Fold
Something similar to this, like they did for Valdez. After speaking to Peter, he has agreed to design
the walking tour map, all color with points of interest on one side and black and white narrative on
the other for NO ADDITIONAL COST. 26 signs will be in production, while there will be close to
30-40 properties on the map.
Printing will be an extra, very reasonable cost
5,000 trifold 8.5x11 full color with full bleed (nicer 24 lb. paper) = $895 (18 cents roughly each)

ADDITIONAL NOTES:
224-3400 Resurrection Bay Tool Rental (Leif)
Mini Excavator is best: Have to dig a larger hole with back blade
Available: Hard to dictate if available MINI T 4000 Lv
No special license is needed. Easy to learn.
Sauna Tubes very helpful for pouring concrete
You can drive it, can be very slow. Rubber tracked.
They have two of them
Week: $1200/WK
