CALL TO ORDER
The April 25,2022 special meeting of the Seward City Council was called to order at 5:30
p.m. by Mayor Christy Terry.
OPENING CEREMONY
City Clerk Brenda Ballou led the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.
ROLL CALL
There were present:
Christy Terry presiding and
Sue McClure John Osenga
Liz DeMoss da
Mike Calhoon Randy Wells
comprising a quorum of the Council; and
Janette Bower, City Manager
Brenda Ballou, City Clerk
Excused—Casagranda
Absent—None
CITIZEN COMMENTS ON ANY SUBJECT EXCEPT THOSE ITEMS SCHEDULED FOR

APPROVAL OF AGENDA AND CONSENT AGENDA
Motion (McClure/Wells) Approval of Agenda and Consent Agenda

Motion Passed Unanimous
Council moved into Committee of the Whole at 5:33 p.m.
Council came out of Committee of the Whole at 6:05 p.m.
Motion (Terry/DeMoss) Direct administration to bring forward a
resolution to move forward with the
Department of Environmental
Conservation (DEC) remediation of the
property.
Motion Passed Unanimous
Terry reported that administration would be providing a list of inventory of items and/or
materials retrieved and/or preserved from the site, as well as a breakdown of expenditures made
against the grant funding or other expenditures.
Terry added that the Chair from the Historic Preservation Commission was present,and that
council was requesting input from the commission related to a memorial on the property.
CITIZEN COMMENTS
Cheryl Seese, inside the city, thanked council for supporting the Historic Preservation
Commission and requesting their input.
COUNCIL AND ADMINISTRATION COMMENTS & RESPONSE TO CITIZEN
COMMENTS
Bower thanked council for the guidance and direction.
Wells was glad to see this project move forward.
Calhoon was also pleased; this had been a very long term project. He believed the
community would be pleased with the outcome.
Osenga appreciated the information provided tonight. He looked forward to moving forward
productively.
DeMoss thanked administration for moving this project forward. She agreed that the
community was looking forward to this.

McClure said this property had been a topic of discussion since the earthquake of 1964;
tonight's meeting was very informative. She supported preserving the history of the Jesse Lee Home.
ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 6:10 p.m.
