r.ESOLl1rION NO. 389
UHEREAS the United States Air Force, both through its normal
organization and through the CiVil Air Patrol, immediately came to the
assistance of the City of Seward and its citizens follmr.lng the disaster
of Barch 27, 1964; and
UHEREAS thousands of man hours \-lere spent in flying supplies
and food to Seward, so that every day life coUld be continued in Seward;
and
l'~EAS this assistance continued until the highway to
Anchorage was opened;
NOl!, THEP.EFOr-E. DE IT RESOLVED by the COI11DIOn Council of the
City of Se't'lard that this Re$olution of appreciation be enacted, express.
ing the sincere appreciation of the citizens of Seward and this Council
to Lt. General R. J. Reeves. Commander in Chief, Alaskan COlllJl8nd, United
States Air Force, and the men of his command, for the '~ork done and the
interest shown on behalf of Seward and its citizens.
It is directed that a copy of this Resolution be placed with
the Secretary of the Air Force, the Commander in Chief of the Armed
Forces of the United States, and appropriate ne'~s media.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the Common Council of the City of
Seward this 15th day of June, 1964.
