RESOLUTION 2022-125
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, ACCEPTING GRANT FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $20,000
FROM THE AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR THE PREVENTION OF
CRUELTY TO ANIMALS (ASPCA), FOR THE PURCHASE OF
VETERINARY EQUIPMENT FOR THE ANIMAL SHELTER
WHEREAS,the City of Seward is nearing the completion of the new Animal Shelter
building; and
WHEREAS,the City of Seward Animal Shelter is seeking to expand its ability to care
for animals by providing basic veterinary services; and
WHEREAS,the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals(ASPCA)
has awarded the City of Seward Animal Shelter with grant funds in the amount of$20,000 to
be used for purchasing veterinary equipment for the Animal Shelter.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SEWARD,ALASKA that:
Section 1. The Seward City Council hereby authorizes the city manager to receive the funds
from the ASPCA to be used towards the purchase of veterinary equipment for the Animal Shelter.
Section 2. Funding in the amount of$20,000 is hereby accepted from grant revenue
account number 01000-1212-4253 and appropriated to account number 01000-1212-7215
Operating Supplies Expense.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Seward, Alaska,this 12th
day of December, 2022.

Agenda Item: Resolution 2022-125: Accepting Grant Funds in the Amount of$20,000 from
the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), For
the Purchase of Veterinary Equipment for the Animal Shelter
Background and justification:
The Seward Police Department has been granted $20,000 by the American Society for the
Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) to be used toward the purchase of veterinary care
equipment for the Seward Animal Shelter.
One of the goals for the new animal shelter will be adding the ability of the Seward Animal Shelter
to provide on-going basic medical attention to the animals of the Seward community.
The Police Department respectfully requests the city council to accept these funds on behalf of the
Seward Animal Shelter so that they may be put into immediate use.
