Home My WebLink AboutRES2023-008 R&M Task Order for Water Sewer At Public Works1 1 1 Sponsored by: Bower CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA RESOLUTION 2023-008 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPROVE R&M ENGINEERING TASK ORDER 2734.27.01 FOR ENGINEERING SERVICES TO DESIGN WATER AND SEWER MAIN EXTENSIONS ON BALLAINE BOULEVARD, AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS WHEREAS, since 1984, the relocation of the Public Works Facility has been discussed by City Staff, the Planning and Zoning Commission, the Seward City Council, and the entire Seward community; and WHEREAS, the current Public Works Facility is beyond its useful life; and WHEREAS, the project to construct a new Public Works Facility is underway; and WHEREAS, the Municipal Land Use Plan has identified the parcel where the current Public Works Facility is located as desirable for residential development; and WHEREAS, lack of residential housing is a recognized barrier to growth in Seward; and WHEREAS, R&M Task Order 2734.27.01 will provide the construction documents, an Engineer's cost estimate, and an Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) Engineering Plan for extending water and sewer mains which will be required for residential development at the current Public Works Shop facility on Ballaine Boulevard. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA that: Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to approve R&M Task Order 2734.27.01 with R&M Engineering for the completion of engineering services to expand the water and sewer mains at the current Public Works Shop facility on Ballaine Boulevard. Section 2. Funding in the amount of $19,068 is hereby appropriated from 17100- 0000-8101-0090 Water Fund ARPA New City Shop Expenses and $19,068 from the 18100- 0000-8101-0090 Sewer Fund ARPA New City Shop Expenses. In order to accommodate residential development after the old shop facility is removed, the City needs to extend the water and sewer mains in the area. Funding for this utility expansion will be through American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding which has been designated for water and sewer projects. This resolution authorizes the City Manager to approve R&M Engineering Task Order 2734.27.01, which will provide the design and cost estimate for the water and sewer main extensions at the current shop facility. Specific deliverables from the task order will include: 1. Construction documents -water and sewer main extensions 2. Construction cost estimate 3.
