THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 524
WHEREAS, the road known as the Airport Road, and serving the
City Dock, the City of Seward tidelands industrial develop-
ment area, and the Alaska Railroad Dock, intersects the
eastern boundary of Alaska Route 31: and
WHEREAS, the present intersection is an oblique angle which
creates a blind corner and is therefore dangerous: and
WHEREAS, the present intersection is in such a location and
is laid out in such a way as to be very difficult to use,
especially for truck traffic, which is the major part of the
traffic on this roadway: and
WHEREAS, the present intersection creates a very difficult
condition for development of the land around the Seward
Municipal Small Boat Harbor:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the State of Alaska,
Department of Highways, be and is hereby urgently requested
to revise the location of the intersection of the above named
highways by moving the road serving the Seward City Dock and
the Alaska Railroad Dock to the North through Porcupine Hill
so that the intersection will be a right angle, will thereby
provide clear vision of the roadway, and will permit full de-
velopment of the city of Seward harbor industrial area to
secure the utmost utilization of that valuable shoreline.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of The City of Seward,
Alaska, this 5th day of May, 1966.
