HomeMy WebLinkAbout11252024 City Council Laydown - Jaffa LetterSeward Council, 11.25.24
PACAB We will plan a report in December for 2024 activity. Discussion on PACAB Priorities
as addressed in the Code will begin and any issue the council would suggest is welcome.
We have begun to dig into possible efficient heat sources that could benefit residents and
the City Utility.
As a subgroup to PACAB the Heat loop Committee met and with 6 members all were
enthusiastic to continue the effort to find a way to construct cutting edge, ecofriendly and
value benefit Library Heat system. We hope to utilize some of the good work already
complete and find a professional way to move forward. The Assistant City Manager may
have more on that.
Along with consideration of energy efficiency I again suggest that the current City Building
could greatly benefit from a new energy efficient exterior. Once a new Police building is
constructed a revamp of City Hall seems like an obvious goal.
Your task with the Budget shows how committed you all are to Seward. In my life and as
Carole and I built our business it was always important to understand our limits. Spending
more than we had would certainly cause problems down the road. First national Bank was
a great partner but Public spending is different in some ways. The same for both is deficit
spending or reduction in a reserve without careful well vetted consideration is always bad
policy.
Kenai Mountain Turnagain Arm Heritage Area has put forward encouragement to spend
your holiday money in the Heritage Area. More information on educational and other
activities can be found on the KMTA Facebook or Website
