Seward City Code § 15.10.325(G) states that an approved CUP shall lapse six months from the date of approval if the use for which the permit was issued has not been implemented or a building permit obtained. Neither of these conditions have been met, and the CUP will reach the six-month mark on January 12, 2025. Despite the delay in construction, CATC Alaska Tourism Corporation still intends to build the second bunkhouse. As such, CATC Alaska Tourism Corporation has requested a six-month extension to their CUP 2024-003, in which time they intend to obtain a building permit and begin construction. The reason for the extension is solely due to the delay in construction, and the plans that were approved by the Commission on July 2" d, 2024 remain the same. Seward City Code § 15.10.325(G) states that the Commission may grant a six-month extension upon finding that circumstances have not changed sufficiently since the date of initial permit approval. Recommendation The Commission has the authority to grant the requested extension as authorized by Seward City Code §15.10.325(G). 8
