HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES2024-072 Digital Literacy GrantSponsored by: Sorensen CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA RESOLUTION 2024-072 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT A GRANT FROM THE PUBLIC LIBRARY ASSOCIATION'S DIGITAL LITERACY INCENTIVE PROGRAM IN THE AMOUNT OF $5,000 WHEREAS, on October 18, 2024, the City of Seward submitted an application for the Public Library Association's Digital Literacy Workshop Incentives supported by AT&T; and WHEREAS, funding for this incentive provides. the. Cif- of Seward Community Library & Museum with funding and resources to 'th`'basic digital literacy skills using PLA's DigitalLearn courses and training materials; and WHEREAS, on November 11,.2024�, the City�.of Seward was notified that the Public Library Association had chosen the Seward Community Library; & Museum as a grantee of this grant award in the amount of $5,000; and s' WHEREAS, the staff will provide Digital Literacy. workshops for the community of Seward expected to reach at least 30 attendees by. May of025.;''., NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THR'€ITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that: Section 1. The City Council hereby authorizes the City Manager to accept grants funds in the amount of $5,000 from the Public Library Association -_fair Digital Literacy Workshops. Section 2. Accept funding in the amount of $5,000'is hereby transferred and appropriated to the account 01000-1500-4253-0152 Library PLA Digital Literacy. Section 3. On November 11, 2024, the City was notified that the American Library Association and Public Library Association had chosen the Seward Community Library & Museum as a grantee of this grant award in the amount of $5,000.00. This incentive provides the City of Seward Community Library & Museum with funding and resources to teach basic digital literacy skills using PLA's Digital Learn courses and training materials. This grant will build technological skills for interested Seward community members.
