THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 582
WHEREAS, the fine efforts of many people have been concerted to
rebuild the City of Seward since the Great Alaskan Earthquake of
1964: and
WHEREAS, one of the leaders and principal spokesman for The City of
Seward and its vicinity has been Mr. Eugene P. Foley, Assistant
Secretary of the United States Department of commerce and Director
of the Economic Development Administration, and former Administra-
tor of the small Business Administration: and
WHEREAS, Mr. Foley has assisted and guided The City of Seward in
its reconstruction effort in every proper dissemination of vital
information:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Counci 1 of The City of
Seward, Alaska, that this Resolution be enacted as an expression
of appreciation for Mr. Eugene P. Foley's expert help and consid-
eration on our behalf in securing the $540,000 grant and loan for
dredging and improvements to the Seward Municipal Small Boat Har-
bor area, and as an expression of regret that he has resigned from
his posi tion.
This Resolution shall be effective on the date of passage and
approval. Passed and approved by the City Council of The City of
Seward, Alaska this ~Wday of November, 1966.
