Seward Theatre Collective -Student Quotes
"Theatre has affected my life so much! I've met so many amazing people through STC and would be devastated if it
had to end." -Riley Hinton, 8th Grade
"I've learned how to speak confidently and not be afraid to be loud. It's always a safe place to grow, learn, and have
fun... It's a place where I can be authentically myself and no one judges me..." - Briley Appel, 10th Grade
"I look forward to it all the time... [Theatre] is everything I thought it would be and surprisingly more!" -Ellia Schrock,
10th Grade
"The Seward Theatre Collective gave me the kind of community, purpose, and support that I did not believe existed. It
is a stronghold for the arts in town and an invaluable resource to Seward's youth." -Evelyn Bukac, 12th Grade
"The `Theatre Collective' holds a special place in my heart and has brought me a type of joy that I never would have
found without it. Not only has it bettered me as a person, but it has also given me the confidence and knowledge to
continue to learn and grow in my everyday life." - Aurora Bukac, 7th Grade
Seward Theatre Collective
- Works with youth actors, dancers, artists, and leaders (and adult volunteers too!)
within the community of Seward.
- Currently working on the 6th full length production, "The Two Noble Kinsmen"
directed by a high school senior, Evelyn Bukac, to be performed on the Seward
High School stage. Past productions include "Alice in Wonderland", "Little
Women", "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", and "Cinderella". Worked with
Seward Artist in Schools to produce a summer acting workshop and Shakespeare
in the park.
- Into the future we hope to continue to bring theatre opportunities to our
community including, but not limited to, youth theatre within the Seward High
School Theatre that we have called "home" for the last 3 seasons.
The future of Seward Arts Education
• Seward has all the pieces it needs to reinvigorate our community schools.
• We need to make a choice as a city and a community to further invest in our arts and music
education infrastructure to allow these possibilities for our community schools to come to life.
• As we say in the theatre... We hope the City of Seward will say "Yes! And..." to prioritizing
arts education and community art opportunities within Seward. Protecting the resources we
have through proper maintenance and accessible use for local artists, musicians, and
students alike creates a positive impact on the overall health of our community.
The Ask
We move to request that the city consider a different management approach
of our theatre that would safeguard:
o Acces
o Safety
o Management
o Maintenance
So that we can:
• Ensure access to community spaces that are vital to the growth of education
programming
• Increase community opportunities available in our town
Thank you very much for your time.
