Subject: Resolution 2025-106: Authorizing the City Manager to Purchase 300 MCM
Copper Service Conductors from General Pacific, Inc in the Amount Of
$34,461 for the Customer -Driven Project at the New Railroad Terminal
Background and justification:
The City of Seward Electric Department is supporting a customer -driven project for the new
railroad terminal that requires the installation of new underground electric service. To meet the
customer's electrical load requirements, 300 MCM copper conductors are needed to complete the
primary service extension from the utility's distribution system to the customer's transformer
location.
City staff obtained a quote from General Pacific, Inc. on October 2, 2025, for THHN/THWN-2
500 MCM copper conductors, totaling 2,100 feet of cable, for a total cost of $34,461. The material
purchase is necessary to maintain the project's schedule and ensure that the customer connection
can be completed before winter conditions limit construction activity.
This purchase will be refunded by the EPA Clean Ports Grant accepted by the city by Res.2025-
016.General Pacific has provided reliable and competitive pricing for electrical materials on prior
City projects and is the preferred vendor for this order.
