Planning & Zoning Action Agenda
Results from Tuesday, November 4, 2025
The following Resolution had a public hearing and was approved:
Resolution 2025-032 of the Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Seward, Alaska, granting a conditional
use permit to the Alaska Railroad Corporation for the installation of a Living Reef within Tideland Parcel No.
14734009, located southeast of the Alaska SeaLife Center, within the Central Business (CB) zoning district
The following Resolution had a public hearing and was postponed:
Resolution 2025-033 of the Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Seward Alaska, recommending City
Council amend Seward City Code §15.10.215 Parking
Other items:
The September 2, 2025 Planning & Zoning Commission Meeting Minutes were approved.
The October 21, 2025 Planning & Zoning Commission Special Meeting Minutes were approved.
The Work Session topic for Tuesday, November 18, 2025 will be about parking.

PUBLIC HEARINGS
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Seward City Council will conduct public hearings on the following items
of business at a regular meeting on Monday, November 17, 2025:
Ordinances 2025-017: Approving the Land Use Amendment to Rezone 2500 Laurel Street from a Resource
Management (RM) Zoning District to an Auto Commercial (AC) Zoning District and 1000 Hemlock Avenue from
an Institutional (Ins) Zoning District to an Auto Commercial (AC) Zoning District
Resolution 2025-107: Authorizing the Disposal of City Property Near 1000 Hemlock Avenue and the Acquisition
of Privately-Owned Property Near 2405 Seward Highway for a Land Exchange
Public hearing documents are available for review at the City Hall. The public hearing will be held during the
meetings in the Council Chambers at City Hall at 410 Adams Street. All interested persons are invited to attend
the meetings and participate in the discussion.
BOARDS & COMMISSIONS VACANCIES
Historic Preservation Commission
City Council is seeking applications from those interested in serving on the Historic Preservation Commission.
The commission meets four times a year, typically on a designated Thursday in January, May, September, and
November.
There is one seat available on the commission with a term set to expire May 2028. At least four seats shall be filled
by residents inside Seward city limits. If there are no city residents applying, council may consider filling the seats
with non-residents.
Port & Commerce Advisory Board (PACAB)
City Council is seeking applications from those interested in serving on PACAB. The board meets on the third
Wednesday of each month at noon. There are no PACAB meetings during the months of June, July, and August.
There is one seat available with a term expiring in July 2026
There is one seat available with a term expiring in July 2028
At least four seats shall be filled by residents inside Seward city limits. If there are no city residents applying,
council may consider filling the seats with non-residents.
