Uplands Parking and Lease/Public Space
Parking
Feedback from the last meeting was given to R&M / KPB for revision.
Feedback:
- Concern on losing overall parking numbers
- Lack of close in parking to MNOP Floats
Restrooms to remain close to MNOP Floats
Park Area in SW Corner -positive
- Desired parking that had view of harbor (feedback to council)
- Desired lease space (feedback to council)
- Desired public space (feedback to council)
Revisions:
- Parking was added so that there are more passenger vehicle spots than in the
google earth photo previously referenced
- Parking was added in closer proximity to MNOP Floats (dump station was moved)
Parking faces / overlooks harbor (feedback at council level)
- Depending on the size of truck and trailer, there is the equivalent number of spots
(from the google earth photo) or only slightly less.
Notes:
- More spaces cannot be added to the NE of the memorial as that is greenspace is
needed for surface water drainage.
- If half of the public/tease area was cut out for more parking, there was only a net
gain of 5 to 6 spots because of the increased need for traffic flow space in the area.
The other downside is that it would have pushed the restrooms further away from
MNOP Floats. With that, we didn't have any R&M create any new designs for this
scenario.

*The longest (easternmost) truck and trailer parking areas are 72' in length (and some that
are longer as you go west). Depending on the size of vehicle, and trailer —these spaces
could potentially hold more than one truck and trailer but are only counted as one in the
overall count.
We also received some feedback that the city should just do Asphalt or concrete for the
"boardwalk areas" as it will last longer and won't require replacement.
Lease / Public Space
Council has directly received feedback on interest in lease sites as well as having public
space in this area.
This will be taken to Council on March 23rd as part of the 35% Design and Engineering
update.
