The last page contains QR codes to Council, P&Z, PACAB, and Historic Preservation meeting information to help you stay informed on your local government! *** This edition is for Wednesday, March 11, 2026 *** City Council Action Agenda Results from Monday, March 9, 2026 The following ordinance was enacted: Ordinance 2026-003: Amending Seward City Code §15.10.140 Definitions and §15.10.226 Land Uses Allowed to Incorporate Regulations for a Mobile Health Unit [Sponsored by P&Z] The following ordinance was introduced and will have a public hearing on March 23, 2026: Introduction of Ordinance 2026-004: Amending the Seward City Code Chapter 8.25 And Section 15.10.226 by Providing Additional Marijuana Establishment Regulations Governing On-Site Outdoor Marijuana Consumption, Walk-Up/Drive-Thru Retail Marijuana Sales, and Limiting the Total Number of Marijuana Establishments within City Limits [Sponsored by Calhoon] The following resolutions were approved: Resolution 2026-023: Authorizing the City Manager to Approve the Proposals with CRW Engineering Group, Inc and Alaska Construction Surveys, LLC for Nash Road Electrical Easement Acquisition Services in an Amount Not to Exceed $260,000 and Appropriating Funds Resolution 2026-024: Acknowledging the Closeout of the Pink Salmon Fishery Disaster Relief Grant Other items: The February 23, 2026 City Council Meeting Minutes were approved. The March 2, 2026 City Council Special Meeting Minutes were approved. There were no grounds for protest to the AMCO renewal for the Package Store liquor license for the Seward Marketplace. Council directed administration to bring back a resolution authorizing Qutekcak Tribe to own and manage a portion of the Jesse Lee Cemetery. Council approved of a letter of support for the U.S. Coast Guard in Seward. ADJOURNMENT UPCOMING MEETINGS Planning & Zoning Work Session Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. City Council Chambers Topic: Continue Review of Subdivision Code PACAB Meeting Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. City Council Chambers City of Seward - Council Calendar Page 3 of 4 Posted on March 11, 2026, at City Hall, Post Office, Harbormaster, Seward Community Library, and online at www.cityofseward.us PUBLIC HEARINGS NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Seward City Council will conduct public hearings on the following items of business at a regular meeting on Monday, March 23, 2026: Ordinance 2026-004: Amending the Seward City Code Chapter 8.25 And Section 15.10.226 by Providing Additional Marijuana Establishment Regulations Governing On-Site Outdoor Marijuana Consumption, Walk- Up/Drive-Thru Retail Marijuana Sales, and Limiting the Total Number of Marijuana Establishments within City Limits [Sponsored by Calhoon] Public hearing documents are available for review at the City Hall. The public hearing will be held during the meetings in the Council Chambers at City Hall at 410 Adams Street. All interested persons are invited to attend the meetings and participate in the discussion. BOARDS & COMMISSIONS VACANCIES Planning & Zoning Commission City Council is seeking applications from residents inside city limits interested in serving on the Planning & Zoning Commission. There is one seat available with a term set to expire February 2028. City Council will be making the new appointment at the April 13, 2026 council meeting. Planning & Zoning holds regular meetings on the first Tuesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. and work sessions the third Tuesday of every month at 6:00 p.m. or at other times as needed. Commissioners shall be compensated for service at the rate of $100 per month. Application forms are available in the Office of the City Clerk and on the City Council Meetings webpage. Historic Preservation Commission City Council is seeking applications from those interested in serving on the Historic Preservation Commission. The commission meets four times a year, typically on a designated Thursday in January, May, September, and November. There is one seat available on the commission with a term set to expire May 2028. At least four seats shall be filled by residents inside Seward city limits. If there are no city residents applying, council may consider filling the seats with non-residents. Application forms are available in the Office of the City Clerk and on the City Council Meetings webpage.
