NOTICE OF
REGULAR MUNICIPAL ELECTION
OCTOBER 6,1998
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on Tuesday, October 6, 1998, there will be
conducted in the city of Seward, Alaska, a Regular Municipal Election in accordance with Title 4
of the Seward City Code.
CITY OFFICES
The following candidates have filed for elective office within the city of Sewadd and will
appear on the regular municipal election ballot:
COUNCILMEMBER -2- YEAR TERM (Vote for not more than 3)
Edgar Blatchford Paul T. Schuldt
Kelly R. Martin Jerry F. King
Vanta Shafer Stu Clazk
PROPOSITIONS
The following propositions will be submitted to the qualified electors of the city of
Seward for approval or rejection.
PROPOSITION NO. 1
AMENDMENT OF SEWARD CITY CODE 5.35.035
Shall the City of Seward amend the Seward City Code 5.35.035, imposition of sales tax,
by increasing the city sales tax from 3% to 4%? [This is an advisory vote only.]
PROPOSITION N0.2
AMENDMENT OF SEWARD CITY CHARTER, SECTION 6.1
Shall the Seward City Charter 6.1 be amended to allow for the fiscal year to be set by
City Code, and shall City Charter 6.2 be amended to require that the budget be presented to the
Council 45 days prior to the next fiscal year?
PROPOSITION NO. 3
AMENDMENT OF SEWARD CITY CHARTER 6.6
Shall the Seward City Charter 6.6 be amended to read, "the annual audit shall be made by
certified public accountants employed by the council and shall be completed within one hundred
twenty days following the close of the fiscal year"?
